College Sports recruiting apps. Advantages of adding them to your strategy. Part 3 of 3

In part 2 of College Sports recruiting apps last week I provided some disadvantages of using sports recruiting apps. This week  I’d like to point out some advantages using sports recruiting apps as a part of your recruitment strategy. I think successful prospects find ways to utilize the personal aspects of the marketing and promotion process along with the digital platforms available. As I mentioned earlier I truly hate that most of the digital platforms subject prospects to SEO bias and rank prospects chances to connect with or be found by a college coach based on their ability to pay for a subscription or upgrade. Did I mention that the PrepSearch app is one of the few completely free sports recruiting apps available? I encourage prospects to use a combination of free and paid resources as the foundation of their recruiting strategy.  Now for the advantages of using apps.

College sports recruiting apps offer several advantages that can significantly benefit athletes, coaches, and recruiters. Here are some key positives:

  1. Increased Visibility: Athletes can showcase their skills and accomplishments to a broader audience, including coaches and scouts who might not have otherwise discovered them. Perfect for students from small schools and those that are underrecruited.
  2. Access to a Wide Network: These apps often connect athletes with a large network of college programs, recruiters, and other players, providing more opportunities for exposure and recruitment. There’s no better way to get prospects information to a large number of coaches quickly.
  3. Centralized Information: They provide a centralized platform for athletes to manage and share their profiles, including stats, highlights, academic achievements, and contact information. Everything is in one convenient place for both prospects and coaches.
  4. Efficiency: For coaches and recruiters, these apps streamline the process of discovering and evaluating talent, saving time compared to traditional methods. Remember the coaches and recruiters know which apps are free for prospects and which one charge for upgrades and subscriptions.
  5. Real-Time Updates: Athletes can quickly update their profiles with new achievements or performances, ensuring that recruiters have the most current information.
  6. User-Friendly Tools: Many apps include tools for creating highlight reels, tracking performance metrics, and receiving feedback, which can help athletes present themselves more effectively.
  7. Direct Communication: Some apps facilitate direct communication between athletes and coaches, making it easier to schedule visits, interviews, and discussions. Many apps including the PrepSearch app have chat features that allow prospects to connect directly with college coaches.
  8. Competitive Edge: Athletes who actively use these apps can gain a competitive edge by demonstrating initiative and leveraging modern tools to advance their recruiting process. While there are many apps available you’d be surprised how many prospects are not using them as part of their recruiting strategy. These apps may be the easiest edge a prospect can get in the process.
  9. Informed Decision-Making: Coaches and athletes can use data and insights from these apps to make more informed decisions about recruitment and program fit.
  10. Resource Access: Many recruiting apps provide additional resources such as tips on the recruiting process, training advice, and educational materials, helping athletes navigate their journey more effectively. I love the ability to access additional information, however keep in mind access usually comes at a price with most apps.

Overall, these apps can significantly enhance the recruiting process for both athletes and coaches and I highly recommend checking some of these apps out. Remember no coach subscribes to every app and all coaches subscribe to access multiple apps. I can tell you as a former college coach, I regularly subscribed to nearly a dozen apps to search for recruits.
